In a Super 8 match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, England faced Pakistan yesterday in a thrilling contest. England captain Harry Brook created history by becoming the first captain ever to score a century in a T20 World Cup match.
Brook reached his hundred in just 50 balls, smashing 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. With this achievement, he also became only the third England player to score centuries in all three formats of international cricket — Tests, One-Day Internationals, and T20s — joining Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan on the elite list.
In the match, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first, posting 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Chasing the target, England reached 166 for 8 in 19.1 overs, securing a narrow 2-wicket victory. Brook’s remarkable century played a crucial role in England’s win and added another milestone to his growing career.
