G.D. Naidu Flyover Extension Project Gets Approval in Coimbatore

The extension project of the G.D. Naidu Flyover on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore has moved a step closer to implementation after Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) issued a no-objection certificate to the State Highways Department.

According to reports, the flyover will be extended from Chinniyampalayam to Neelambur for a distance of nearly 5 kilometres.

The proposed infrastructure project is expected to be developed at an estimated cost of around ₹700 crore to ₹800 crore.

The extension is expected to significantly improve traffic movement along the busy Avinashi Road corridor, which serves as one of the major entry and exit routes of Coimbatore city.

Officials believe the project will help reduce congestion, improve travel time, and support the city’s growing transportation needs as urban expansion continues in the eastern parts of Coimbatore.

The issuance of the no-objection certificate by CMRL is considered an important administrative step for moving the project forward toward implementation.
