Afghanistan Bowled Out for 152 as India Enforces Follow-On in Test Match
Afghanistan were bowled out for 152 in their first innings against India after Manav Suthar's six-wicket haul. India enforced the follow-on after posting 564 runs in the first innings.
India tightened its grip on the Test match against Afghanistan after bowling out the visitors for just 152 runs in their first innings and enforcing the follow-on on Day 3 of the match in New Chandigarh.
The Test began on June 6, with India winning the toss and opting to bat first. The hosts produced a dominant batting display, declaring their first innings at 564 runs.
Captain Shubman Gill led the way with an impressive 126 runs, while KL Rahul scored a century with 100 runs. Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant contributed 81 runs each, while Washington Sundar added a valuable 52 runs.
For Afghanistan, Mohammad Saleem Safi was the standout bowler, claiming six wickets. Rahman Sharifi and Hashmatullah Shahidi picked up one wicket each.
In response, Afghanistan struggled against India's disciplined bowling attack. The visitors ended Day 2 at 113/5, but the remaining wickets fell quickly on the third morning.
Afghanistan were eventually dismissed for 152 runs, with Rahmat Shah top-scoring with 60 runs.
India's debutant spinner Manav Suthar delivered a memorable performance, taking 6 wickets in the innings. Prasidh Krishna claimed 3 wickets, while Washington Sundar chipped in with one wicket.
Holding a massive first-innings lead, India enforced the follow-on and asked Afghanistan to bat again. At the lunch break on Day 3, Afghanistan had reached 18/0 in their second innings without losing a wicket.
With a commanding advantage and plenty of time remaining in the match, India remains firmly in control and will be looking to wrap up the contest with another strong bowling performance.
