Rotary Club of Coimbatore City and Rotaract Club of Royal Care Institute of Nursing organised a one-day RYLA leadership programme for nursing students in Coimbatore.

A one-day leadership programme under the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) initiative was organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore City in association with the Rotaract Club of Royal Care Institute of Nursing (RCIN) on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The programme was held at the Royal Farm Auditorium of Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital in Neelambur, Coimbatore, and benefited around 200 students from the Royal Care Institute of Nursing.

The event, themed “Youth for Change, Leaders for Society,” was inaugurated by Dr. Paranthaman Sethupathi, Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist at Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital. The inauguration took place in the presence of Dr. P. Kavitha, Principal of RCIN, and Rtn. Dr. G. Suresh, President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore City.

The first session of the programme, titled “Behavioural Communication,” was conducted by Mrs. Pamela Suresh, Director of IIVM College of Optometry, and Mr. Suresh Kunnath, Trustee of INLIFE Foundation.

Through interactive demonstrations and practical examples, the speakers explained how ego and lack of clarity can affect communication. The session helped students better understand effective communication techniques and interpersonal behaviour.

The next session, “Lead Your Time and Change,” was led by Rtn. Rathnavel Pon, District Co-Chair of the Membership Committee, RI District 3206.

During the session, he highlighted that leadership is primarily an attitude and encouraged participants to develop leadership qualities within themselves. Through quizzes and interactive discussions, he explained the importance of time management and teamwork in leadership.

The final session, titled “Unleash the Leader in You,” was conducted by Rtr. Saran, District Trainer Designate of RI District 3206.

He explained that everyone possesses leadership qualities and introduced techniques using the acronym “LALETTA” to help participants unlock their hidden leadership potential. A team activity was also conducted to reinforce the concepts discussed during the session.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Rtn. K.K. Chugh, District Director of RI District 3206, Rtn. N. Rajasekar, District Chair – RYLA, and Rtn. Fredrick John, District Chair – Rotaract.

Rtn. K.K. Chugh distributed prizes to the best participants, while Rtn. Rajasekar encouraged students to demonstrate compassion through service to society. Rtn. Fredrick John shared inspiring life experiences and emphasized the importance of helping others.

Participants expressed enthusiasm about the programme and stated that the sessions helped them gain valuable leadership and communication skills.

The event arrangements were coordinated by Rtr. Fathima Tasneem, President of the Rotaract Club of Royal Care Institute of Nursing, along with Rtr. Ida Blessidel and faculty coordinator Ms. Jijina.

Several Rotary leaders including Rtn. Anish Raichura, Rtn. Kaneshan, Rtn. Atish, Rtn. Prashanth, Rtn. Murugan, and Rtn. Jagan Mohan also attended the programme.
