India produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test match played at New Chandigarh.
The match began on June 6, with India putting up a commanding total in the first innings. The hosts declared at 564/8, laying a strong foundation for victory.
Afghanistan struggled against India's bowling attack in their first innings and were bowled out for 152 runs. Rahmat Shah top-scored with 60 runs, while debutant Manav Suthar stole the spotlight by claiming six wickets.
Asked to follow on, Afghanistan's batting woes continued in the second innings as they were dismissed for just 112 runs, handing India a comprehensive victory.
For Afghanistan, Sediqullah Atal scored 42 runs, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 24 runs. Rahmat Shah added 13 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to make a significant impact.
India's bowlers once again dominated proceedings. Washington Sundar led the attack with four wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar claimed one wicket each.
The standout performer of the match was Manav Suthar, who delivered a sensational performance on his Test debut. The young spinner finished with seven wickets in the match and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
