NAGARJUNAN MEMORIAL EVENT conducted by SCI COIMBATORE LEGION and GOVERNMENT BOYS HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL THONDAMUTHUR
SCI Coimbatore Legion and GBHSS Thondamuthur organized the 2nd Annual Nagarjunan Memorial Event, encouraging students to create anti-drug awareness slogans.

Senior Chamber International (SCI) Coimbatore Legion joined hands with Government Boys Higher Secondary School, (GBHSS) Thondamuthur for conducting the 2nd Annual NAGARJUNAN Memorial Event on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 at Smart Classroom of GBHSS Thondamuthur from 03.00 PM to 04.15 PM. The event hosted in memory of Late Mr A Nagarjunan is an annual slogan writing competition for VIII Standard Students. 38 Students of VIII Standard of the school participated in the contest with the theme "UNITED AGAINST DRUG ABUSE"
Ms.Prema, Headmistress, GBHSS Thondamuthur welcomed the participants and members of Senior Chamber International. She also highlighted the need to stay united against drug abuse and requested the students to take lead in the fight against drug abuse. Snr.Pon.Rathnavel, Chairperson of Nagarjunan Memorial Event explained the need of the event and how it combined Late Mr Nagarjunan's vision of clarity in thought and simplicity in words. The students were given 8 minutes to pen their slogans on drug abuse both in English and Tamil.
As a special arrangement, SCI organised two lovely 8 minute lectures. Mr.Vignesh, COO, MiniU, Coimbatore gave an interactive lecture on the everyday aspects of science which was wonderfully received by the students. Rtr Fayas Khan, District Trainer Designate, RI District 3206 provided a 8 minute lecture titled DRUG where he explained how the approach of being Dedicated, Respectful, Undeterred and Goal Oriented would serve as an antidote in a society laden with drugs.
Snr.B.A.Prabhu Shankar, Past President, SCI Coimbatore Legion, Snr Paresh Desai, Secretary, SCI Coimbatore Legion, Snr Ganesh, Treasurer SCI Coimbatore Legion, Snr Dr D Saravanamoorthy, Snr Meenakshi Sundaram and Snr Rameswari distributed the prizes for 8 best slogans written by the students. Some selected slogans from the prize winning slogans penned by the students are as follows.

SCI Coimbatore Legion provided stationery and refreshments to all the participants. Mr.Parthiban, Teacher and Coordinator of the Event from the school thanked SCI Coimbatore Legion and the participants and looked forward to more such meaningful events.
