Trump Slams Iran’s Response to US Peace Proposal as “Totally Unacceptable”
US President Donald Trump strongly criticized Iran’s response to the American peace proposal aimed at ending regional conflict, calling Tehran’s reaction “totally unacceptable” amid rising tensions in the Gulf region.
US President Donald Trump on Sunday sharply criticized Iran’s response to a US-backed peace proposal aimed at reducing tensions and ending conflict in the Middle East and Gulf region.
Speaking amid growing instability in West Asia and the Gulf, Trump described Tehran’s reaction to the American initiative as “totally unacceptable.”
In a post shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he was dissatisfied with the response received from Iranian representatives regarding efforts to bring the conflict to an end.
“I just read the response from Iranian representatives. I don’t like it. Totally unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump wrote.
The comments came after Iranian state media confirmed that Tehran had submitted its response to the US proposal through Pakistani mediators as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions.
According to Iranian media reports, Tehran’s response included several conditions, such as the removal of US sanctions against Iran, the lifting of the alleged blockade on Iranian ports, and the withdrawal of American military forces from the region.
Iran also reportedly demanded an end to all hostile actions and called for an end to Israel’s military operations in Lebanon as part of the broader peace framework.
Iranian officials had earlier stated that the country’s response would be sent only after a comprehensive internal review and final decision-making process.
The Iranian state news agency said the current phase of negotiations is primarily focused on ending the ongoing conflict in the region.
However, the diplomatic efforts are unfolding amid rapidly escalating security concerns across the Gulf region. Tehran has recently warned Washington that it may abandon its policy of strategic restraint regarding retaliatory actions.
The warning coincided with reports of fresh maritime tensions, including attacks on commercial vessels traveling through Gulf waters.
Trump also intensified his criticism of Iran during a media interaction on Sunday, warning that the United States is closely monitoring Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
He claimed that any attempt to access or move those facilities would be met with overwhelming military action by the United States.
Speaking about Iran’s military capabilities, Trump stated that the country had already been strategically weakened. He claimed Iran’s naval forces, air force, air defense systems, and military leadership had been severely damaged.
According to Trump, Iran’s infrastructure has significantly deteriorated and would take decades to rebuild if the current situation continues.
He also indicated that US military operations in the region may not yet be over, claiming that nearly 70 percent of Washington’s military objectives had already been achieved and hinting at the possibility of additional strikes if required.
Reiterating his long-standing opposition to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump said the international community cannot allow what he called a “radical regime” to obtain nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Britain is preparing to deploy its Dragon warship to assist international maritime security operations in the Hormuz Strait.
Iran strongly condemned the move and warned Britain and France against deploying warships in the strategically sensitive region. Tehran stated that any such foreign military presence would receive an appropriate response.
At the same time, China urged regional nations to take concrete steps to restore uninterrupted shipping movement through the Hormuz Strait and ensure the safety of international vessels and crews operating in the area.
