According to Chile’s National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN), the event began at around 2:10 p.m. local time and produced a column containing a high concentration of pyroclastic material. The column reached approximately 380 meters above the crater and was dispersed toward the south.
The activity was concentrated in the Nicanor crater area, where continued emissions of volcanic material were reported. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and assessing any changes in the volcano’s activity.
The Nevados de Chillán volcanic complex remains under a Yellow Technical Alert, while monitoring agencies continue their surveillance of the volcano.
