Dust Trouble Continues on Vadavalli–Marudhamalai Road as Residents Demand Road Repairs

Coimbatore: Residents and motorists using the Vadavalli–Marudhamalai Road are reportedly continuing to face difficulties due to excessive dust from sections of the road that were dug up for drinking water and sewage works.

According to local residents, parts of the road were excavated around six months ago for water supply and sewage-related works. Although the work has reportedly been completed, the excavated sections have not been fully restored and remain covered with red soil and loose earth.

As vehicles pass through these stretches, large amounts of red soil dust are reportedly raised into the air. The problem is said to be particularly noticeable during periods of heavy traffic, affecting roadside residents, two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.

Residents also claim that the dust carried by passing vehicles is spreading to nearby homes and shops, leaving deposits of soil and creating additional difficulties in their day-to-day lives.

With the water and sewage works reportedly completed, residents have urged the authorities not to leave the excavated sections covered only with soil. They have requested that the affected portions be properly restored and relaid with tar.

Residents have also called for officials to inspect the current condition of the road and take prompt road repair measures considering the difficulties faced by the public.

As the Vadavalli–Marudhamalai Road is an important transport route, residents are seeking timely completion of the repair work and a permanent solution to the ongoing dust problem.
