VIDA Kovai Kings defeated Madurai Panthers by 84 runs in the TNPL 2026 final to lift the championship trophy for the third time. The thrilling final was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, on August 28. Kovai Kings dominated both with the bat and ball to secure a convincing victory.
After winning the toss, VIDA Kovai Kings elected to bat first. Despite losing a few early wickets, Andre Siddharth and Balasubramaniam Sachin steadied the innings and helped the team build a competitive total.
Playing on his 20th birthday, Andre Siddharth produced a brilliant attacking innings, scoring 82 runs off 47 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. Balasubramaniam Sachin contributed 39 runs off 33 balls. Kovai Kings eventually posted 182/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing 183, Madurai Panthers came under pressure from the very beginning as the Kovai Kings bowlers struck at regular intervals. Hari Raghavendra scored 24 runs off 14 balls, while Balachandar Anirudh made 24 off 25 balls. However, the Panthers struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 98 in 14.2 overs.
Captain Shahrukh Khan and Manimaran Siddharth played a key role with the ball, taking three wickets each. Shahrukh Khan was particularly impressive, conceding just 10 runs in 2.2 overs while claiming three wickets.
