Vijay Holds Key Meeting with TVK MLAs After Winning 108 Seats in Tamil Nadu Election 2026
After securing 108 seats, TVK leader Vijay holds crucial talks with MLAs in Panaiyur to discuss government formation in Tamil Nadu Election 2026.
Following the conclusion of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026, Vijay, leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is holding a crucial consultation meeting with party administrators and newly elected MLAs in Panaiyur after the party secured 108 seats.
The election witnessed a four-cornered contest between the alliance led by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the alliance led by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), TVK, and Naam Tamilar Katchi led by Seeman.
Contesting independently, TVK has emerged as a major political force, winning more than 100 seats and becoming the single largest party in the state. Most pre-election surveys had predicted a return to power for the DMK-led alliance, while only one poll indicated support for Vijay’s TVK.
In a surprising turn of events, many TVK candidates outperformed strong contenders from both DMK and AIADMK, securing higher vote margins across constituencies.
Vijay himself contested in two constituencies and won both with impressive margins. In Perambur, he defeated DMK candidate R. D. Sekar by a margin of 53,715 votes. In Trichy East, he secured victory against DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj with a margin of 26,685 votes.
However, since TVK has fallen short of the required majority of 117 seats, the party will need support from other political parties to form the government.
In this context, Vijay is currently holding discussions in Panaiyur with party MLAs and key leaders to strategize the next steps for government formation.
These developments mark a crucial phase in Tamil Nadu politics, as alliances and support will determine the formation of the next government.
