In the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, Gujarat Titans secured a convincing 4-wicket victory over defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday.
Batting first, RCB struggled against a disciplined Gujarat bowling attack and were bowled out for 155 runs in 19.2 overs. Virat Kohli scored 28 runs, while Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 40. Contributions from the middle order were minimal, as wickets fell at regular intervals.
For Gujarat, Arshad Khan picked up 3 wickets, while Rashid Khan and Jason Holder claimed two wickets each, effectively restricting the opposition.
Chasing 156, Gujarat Titans got off to a brisk start. Captain Shubman Gill played an aggressive knock of 43 runs, while Jos Buttler added 39 runs to keep the chase on track. Despite a few quick wickets in the middle overs, the team maintained control.
In the end, Rahul Tewatia (27*) and Rashid Khan ensured a smooth finish, guiding Gujarat to 158/6 in just 15.5 overs.
For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3 wickets, while Romario Shepherd picked up 2, but their efforts were not enough to stop Gujarat’s dominant chase.
With this win, Gujarat Titans continue to strengthen their position in the tournament, while RCB will need to regroup after another disappointing outing.
