MK Stalin Defeated in Kolathur Constituency in Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

In a major political development, M. K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has been defeated in the Kolathur constituency in the ongoing Assembly election results.

Vote counting, which began earlier in the day, indicated a consistent lead for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate V.S. Babu. After 16 rounds of counting, Stalin was trailing by 7,544 votes.

With only six rounds of counting remaining and the vote margin already exceeding the number of remaining votes, Stalin’s chances of a comeback became mathematically impossible, confirming his defeat.

Stalin, who represents the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), had previously won the Kolathur seat three consecutive times. Contesting for the fourth time, this marks a significant setback in his political career.

This is also the second time Stalin has faced defeat in a legislative assembly election. His earlier loss came in 1991 from the Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai.

The result is expected to have a major impact on Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, as it signals a shift in voter sentiment in one of the state’s most prominent constituencies.
