Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the romantic film was originally released in 2010 and became widely popular for its story, performances, music and memorable characters. The film stars Simbu as Karthik and Trisha as Jessie.
The re-release initially began with special screenings but continued for an extended period following a strong response from fans. At least one screening has reportedly continued at the theatre, with the film crossing 1,000 days in October 2024.
With its latest milestone of more than 1,700 days, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa has recorded a notable run among re-released films in India.
The popularity of the Karthik-Jessie pairing, Gautham Menon's distinctive romantic storytelling and A.R. Rahman's music have continued to attract audiences and contribute to the film's enduring fan following.
