Chennai Granite Businessman R. Veeramani Arrested in POCSO Case
Chennai police have arrested granite businessman R. Veeramani and two associates in connection with a POCSO case involving alleged sexual assault of a minor girl.

Chennai: Granite businessman R. Veeramani and two associates, Shanthi and her husband Mahendra Simhan, have been arrested by Chennai police in connection with a POCSO case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl.
The case was registered in October 2025 after police received a pen drive containing a video that allegedly showed the minor being sexually assaulted. Police had earlier submitted a closure report, citing difficulties in identifying and tracing the girl.
However, a Special POCSO Court rejected the closure report and directed the police to conduct a further investigation. Following the court's direction, investigators reopened the case, identified the survivor and recorded her statement before a magistrate.
Police are also investigating allegations involving other possible survivors, with their statements being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
The allegations remain under investigation, and an arrest does not by itself establish guilt.
