WORLD ELEPHANT DAY observed by AGNES SCHOOL with support of ROTARY AND ROTARACT
Agnes Nursery and Primary School in Ammankulam observed World Elephant Day 2026 with an elephant-themed art competition for 86 toddlers, supported by Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers and Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos.

World Elephant Day is an international annual event on August 12, dedicated to the preservation and protection of the world's elephants. Agnes Nursery and Primary School located at Ammankulam conducted an art competition for the 86 toddlers of the school pursuing Pre KG. LKG and UKG. The art competition was conducted on Wednesday, August 12 2026, World Elephant Day 2026 from 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon at the school premises. The competition was organised by Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos and the finances of the event was fully sponsored by Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers.
Mr.Suresh, Correspondent, Agnes Nursery and Primary School inaugurated the competition. He spoke about the importance of elephants in a manner that the toddlers would appreciate it. He thanked Rotary and Rotaract for conducting the art competition. The art competition was coordinated by Rtr.Joshua, President, Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos, Rtr.Sam Joshua, Secretary, Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos, Rtr.Vijay Arockiaraj, Chairperson, World Elephant Day 2026 and Rtr Kalish Simeon. All students were given sheets with elephant shapes and were asked to colour based on their creativity. It was great joy to witness the young toddlers at work. It was evident from their work and interactions that almost all of them liked elephants. The best art works were honoured by the school correspondent, teachers and Rotaractors. All the toddlers were treated to cake. The Rotaractors initiated the toddlers to sing and dance for an Elephant song. The prizes, stationery and refreshments for the event was supported by Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers as a part of their CHESS (CHange through Effective School Support) initiative.
