One Day Seminar on “Smart HVAC Systems: Energy Efficiency, Control and Monitoring”

The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre organized a One Day Seminar on “Smart HVAC Systems: Energy Efficiency, Control and Monitoring” under the aegis of the Mechanical Engineering Division Board (MCDB), IEI, in association with the Department of Foundry Technology, PSG Polytechnic College, Coimbatore, on 29 July 2026 at the D Block Conference Hall, PSG Polytechnic College, Coimbatore.

The inaugural session commenced with the Welcome and Presidential Address by Dr M Senthilkumar, Chairman, IEI Coimbatore Local Centre. In his address, he welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of HVAC technologies in achieving energy efficiency and sustainable industrial development.

Dr M Arasu, Head of the Department, Department of Foundry Technology, PSG Polytechnic College, delivered the About the Seminar address. He emphasized that the seminar was organized to expose students and professionals to the latest developments in smart HVAC technologies, automation, energy management, and monitoring systems.

Mr S Sivasubramaniam, Lecturer (Senior Grade), Department of Foundry Technology, PSG Polytechnic College, introduced the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest, Mr V Pradeep Kumar, President, ISHRAE Coimbatore Chapter and Joint Managing Director, Velsons Engineers Private Limited, Coimbatore, delivered the keynote address. He explained the fundamentals and growing significance of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial buildings, hospitals, industrial establishments, and other infrastructure. He highlighted the rapid advancements in HVAC technology, emphasizing energy efficiency, sustainability, indoor air quality, and decarbonization. He also discussed the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence and smart control technologies in HVAC systems to improve operational performance and energy management. Further, he briefed the students on the vast career opportunities available in the HVAC industry and encouraged them to acquire the necessary technical skills to meet the growing demands of the sector.

The seminar featured technical sessions by experts from academia and industry covering topics such as Smart Controls, Automation in HVAC Systems, Energy-Efficient HVAC Technologies, Control and Monitoring Systems, and Emerging Industry Practices. The sessions enabled participants to gain practical knowledge on modern HVAC applications, sustainable engineering solutions, and current industry trends.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr J Pradeep Kumar, Honorary Secretary, IEI Coimbatore Local Centre, who expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest, speakers, organizers, faculty members, participants, and PSG Polytechnic College for their support in making the seminar a success. Certificates were distributed to all participants in recognition of their active participation.
