Nearly 3 Tonnes of Liquor Bottles Cleared from Chinnar and Anaikatti Forest Areas in Coimbatore
In a major environmental conservation initiative, the Coimbatore Wildlife Conservation Trust, in collaboration with NSS students from PPG Arts & Science College, removed nearly 3 tonnes of discarded liquor bottles from roadsides in the Chinnar and Anaikatti forest areas.
The cleanup drive was carried out to reduce environmental pollution and protect the fragile forest ecosystem from waste generated by irresponsible visitors. Volunteers collected and safely disposed of thousands of glass bottles that had accumulated along roadside stretches in the forest region.
The initiative highlights the importance of community participation in preserving natural habitats and maintaining the cleanliness of ecologically sensitive areas. Forest officials and conservationists have repeatedly raised concerns about littering, which poses risks to wildlife, increases the chances of forest fires, and negatively impacts the environment.
The Coimbatore Wildlife Conservation Trust urged visitors to act responsibly, avoid littering, and support ongoing conservation efforts to help protect the rich biodiversity of the Chinnar and Anaikatti forest regions for future generations.
