Tamil Nadu to Provide 3 Free LPG Cylinders Annually from Pongal 2027
The Tamil Nadu government has announced that eligible low-income families will receive three free LPG cylinders every year as part of the first phase of the Annaboorani Super 6 scheme.
Chief Minister Vijay announced the scheme in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, stating that it will be implemented from Pongal 2027.
Under the initiative, families with an annual income of less than ₹2.50 lakh will be eligible to receive three free LPG cylinders every year. The amount for the cylinders will be directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
More than 1.30 crore families are expected to benefit from the scheme. The government has estimated that the initiative will involve an additional annual expenditure of around ₹4,000 crore.
The scheme is aimed at providing financial relief to economically disadvantaged families by reducing their household cooking fuel expenses.
The implementation of the free LPG cylinder scheme from Pongal 2027 is expected to provide significant support to eligible families across Tamil Nadu.
