Asian Games 2026: India Wins Seven Medals, Including First Gold in Women’s Cricket
India had won seven medals at the 2026 Asian Games as of September 22, including one gold, four silver and two bronze medals across cricket, shooting and MMA.

India had won seven medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, as of September 22, comprising one gold, four silver and two bronze medals. India’s first gold medal of the Games came from the women’s cricket team, which defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the women’s T20 final. India posted 216/3 before bowling Sri Lanka out for 69.
Shooting has been the biggest contributor to India’s medal tally so far. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, while Elavenil added another silver in the individual event. In the men’s 10m air rifle events, Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane won team silver, while Himanshu secured individual silver and Rudrankksh claimed bronze.
India’s other bronze medal came from Suchika Taryal in the women’s Traditional -60kg MMA event. With the Asian Games continuing through October 4, Indian athletes are competing across numerous sports, with further medal opportunities remaining in events including shooting, athletics, badminton, hockey, boxing, wrestling and weightlifting.
As of the September 22 update, India’s medal tally stood at 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals, for a total of 7 medals.
