CIVISTA Association Inaugurated at Sankara Polytechnic College
Sankara Polytechnic College inaugurated the CIVISTA Association of the Department of Civil Engineering, encouraging students to embrace technology, sustainability, continuous learning and emerging career opportunities.

The Department of Civil Engineering of Sankara Polytechnic College inaugurated the association CIVISTA on Tuesday, 25 August 2026 at Vyasa Hall, Sankara Polytechnic College from 10 00 AM to 11.30 AM
The inauguration began on an auspicious note with prayer song and traditional lamp lighting. Mr Sugandhan, President, CIVISTA welcomed the gathering.
Prof.A.Balasubramaniam, Principal, Sankara Polytechnic College delivered the Presidential Address. He requested the students to embrace the latest technological developments in the field of Civil Engineering. He emphasised the need of constant updating and upskilling to carve a niche in professional careers.
Mr.Pattabhiraman, Managing Trustee launched the association logo and wished the association all success. He appreciated the theme of sustainability in the logo and requested students to think and act in lines of sustainability.
Mr.Rathnavel Pon, Advisor, SDS Land Surveyors LLP, was the Chief Guest for the inauguration. In his address, he enlightened the students on careers beyond buildings. He asked the students to always stay ahead of the competition by continuous upgradation of their knowledge, skills and attitude. He narrated examples of people who chose off beat careers in civil engineering.
Following the address, the annual report of activities was presented. To commemorate the inauguration, technical competitions and sports activities were organised by the department and the prize winners were felicitated during the occassion. The prize distribution was done by the dignitaries comprising Mr.T.V.Pattabhiraman, Managing Trustee, Prof.A.Balasubramnian, Principal, Mr.Rathnavel Pon., Chief Guest and Prof.Vijayalakshmi, HoD, Department of Civil Engineering.
Mr. Brevis Antony proposed the Vote of Thanks for the function. The inauguration was attended by all students and faculty members of Department of Civil Engineering, Sankara Polytechnic College. Prof.N.Vijayalakshmi, HoD, Department of Civil Engineering heralded the arrangements. Ms.Chitra, Senior Lecturer coordinated the inauguration.
