RCB and Gujarat Titans Set for High-Voltage IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 Clash
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans will face off in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026, with the winner earning a direct spot in the final.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans are set to face each other in the high-stakes Qualifier 1 match of IPL 2026 on Tuesday, May 26.
The winner of the clash will directly qualify for the IPL 2026 final, while the losing side will get another opportunity through Qualifier 2.
Both teams finished the league stage strongly with 18 points each, occupying the top two positions in the points table. RCB secured the top spot based on superior net run rate.
RCB Enter Playoffs with Strong Momentum
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, have emerged as one of the most balanced teams this season with aggressive batting and dependable bowling performances.
RCB crossed the 200-run mark multiple times during the league stage, with Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Devdutt Padikkal playing crucial roles in the batting department.
Their bowling unit has also impressed throughout the season, with Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rasikh Salam delivering important breakthroughs consistently.
One of RCB’s biggest strengths this season has been their ability to perform under pressure and secure victories even in difficult situations, including matches played away from home.
Gujarat Titans Rely on Strong Top Order
Gujarat Titans, captained by Shubman Gill, reached the playoffs through a combination of explosive top-order batting and improved bowling performances in the second half of the tournament.
Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler have been major contributors with the bat, regularly putting opposition bowlers under pressure.
After struggling earlier in the season, Gujarat’s bowling attack has shown significant improvement. Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Prasidh Krishna have impressed with pace, while Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore have added strength through spin bowling.
Head-to-Head Record
RCB and Gujarat Titans have faced each other eight times in IPL history so far, with both teams winning four matches each.
Interestingly, the two teams also shared one win each during the league stage of IPL 2026, making the rivalry perfectly balanced heading into the playoffs.
This will be the first-ever playoff meeting between the two franchises.
Dharamsala Pitch and Conditions
The Dharamsala pitch is generally considered balanced for both batters and bowlers. However, chasing teams have won both night matches played at the venue this season, suggesting that defending totals could be challenging.
Weather forecasts indicate that rain is unlikely to interrupt the match.
RCB may hold a slight advantage as they recently played and won against Punjab Kings at the same venue, giving them valuable familiarity with the conditions.
For Gujarat Titans, this will be their first-ever IPL match in Dharamsala, which could present a fresh challenge in such a crucial playoff encounter.
