The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League is underway across various cities in India, featuring 10 teams. In the 40th league match, Punjab Kings faced Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring contest.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag opted to bowl first. Punjab Kings made full use of the batting-friendly conditions, putting up a strong total of 222/4 in 20 overs.
Priyansh Arya contributed 29 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh played an aggressive innings, scoring a brilliant half-century. Marcus Stoinis added a quickfire 62 runs off 22 balls, boosting the total.
Chasing a target of 223 runs, Rajasthan Royals got off to an explosive start with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 43 off 16 balls. He was followed by a solid partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, who added 54 runs together.
Jaiswal continued his attacking form, scoring 51 off 27 balls, while Jurel contributed 16 runs. Captain Riyan Parag chipped in with a quick 29 off 16 balls.
The match turned decisively in Rajasthan’s favor with a powerful finish from Donovan Ferreira and impact substitute Shubham Dubey. The duo accelerated the scoring and guided the team to victory.
Rajasthan Royals successfully chased down the target in 19.2 overs, winning by 6 wickets. Ferreira remained unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls, while Dubey scored a quick 31 off 12 balls.
This win handed Punjab Kings their first defeat of the season, while Rajasthan Royals strengthened their position in the IPL 2026 points table.
