ROTARY CLUB AND SARASWATHI RAMACHANDRAN SCHOOL ORGANISE EVENT TO EMPHASISE BOOK READING FOR STUDENTS

Interact Club of Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya MHSS supported by Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Changemakers and Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers conducted an Intra Club Elocution Contest on Thursday, 02 July 2026 from 10.30 AM to 12.00 Noon at the seminar hall of Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya MHSS
The 32 Interact Club members were asked to talk about 2 minutes about their a book or an author. From JK Rowling to RK Narayan, from Shakespeare to Tagore, from Dr Abdul Kalam to Kalki, the students spoke about different authors. They shared interesting points about the authors citing history, legacy, style etc. Some also shared about books. ‘The Alchemist” , “Wings of Fire”, “Swami and Friends”, “Frozen”, “Jataka Tales” were some of the books presented by the students. 
Mr.C.R.Elangovan, Coordinator, Coimbatore Book Festival 2026 was the jury and the Chief Guest. He mentioned that he wanted to know the minds of the young generation about books and authors before he wanted to speak to them. He expressed his happiness that he could hear diverse names like Tagore, Shakespeare and Kalki. He mentioned that he was glad to hear the some of the students have read Frozen, Wings of Fire etc. He said his only reason for attending this event was use the opportunity to make a plea for youngsters to develop the habit. He mentioned that reading is a habit that is to be nurtured at all stages of life. For young teens pursuing VIII and IX standard students, he elucidated that Book reading is vital because it accelerates cognitive development, expands vocabulary, and builds empathy. He shared his experiences after reading the book “An Unfinished Dream” written by Varghese Kurien and how it helped him build knowledge, vocabulary and empathy.  He requested the youngsters to embrace books and allow it to create magic within them. He registered his appreciations to Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya School and Rotary Club for such a noble initiative. 
Mr.Karunanidhi, Principal, Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya MHSS honoured the Chief Guest. Ms.Yogita, Vice Principal, Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya MHSS and Ms.Faneeta, Faculty Advisor, Interact Club of Saraswathi Ramachandran Vidyalaya joined with the Chief Guest to distribute prizes to the winners of Intra Club Elocution Competition.  The event was coordinated by Rtr.Vishnu, Rtr.Naveen, Rtr.Praveen and Rtr.Dheeraj of Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Changemakers. Rtn Karthikeyan and Rtn Rathnavel from Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers attended the event. Intr.Aditya Krishna, President welcomed the gathering while Intr.Adlin Benetta, Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks
