Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay participated in an anti-drug awareness marathon organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse, urging young people to stay away from narcotics and embrace a healthy lifestyle.

The Chief Minister flagged off the awareness marathon on Thursday morning and joined members of the public in the run, highlighting the state's commitment to creating awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Following the marathon, Vijay took part in a public signature campaign and wrote the message, "Start Running, Stop Drugs. Take Up Sports, Quit Drugs," before signing it with the words, "With Love, Vijay."

All participants at the event also took an anti-drug pledge, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society and spreading awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics.

Later, in a message shared on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister emphasized that raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse is essential to protect the future of young people, prevent crime, and build a drug-free Tamil Nadu.

He stated that encouraging youth to participate in constructive activities such as education, sports, and skill development can play a vital role in steering them away from substance abuse. He also stressed that strict legal action, combined with collective efforts from society, is necessary to eliminate the drug menace and build a stronger and healthier community.

Vijay called upon the public to support the Tamil Nadu Government's ongoing initiatives to curb drug-related crimes and urged everyone to work together in creating a safe, healthy, and drug-free Tamil Nadu.

The awareness campaign was organized as part of the state's observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, reinforcing the importance of prevention, education, and community participation in the fight against drug addiction.
