Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Thondamuthur Commemorates Kamarajar's Birthday with Rotary Support

Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Thondamuthur, commemorated the birth anniversary of the legendary leader K. Kamarajar by organizing a series of literary and creative competitions for students from Classes VI to XII. The event, held on July 14, 2026, provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents under the theme "Kamarajar – An Inspiring Leader" through drawing, essay writing, elocution, and poetry competitions in both English and Tamil.

More than 100 students enthusiastically participated in the competitions, which were meticulously organized by the school's teaching staff. The contests encouraged students to learn about Kamarajar's life, leadership, and contributions to education while expressing their creativity and communication skills. Winners were recognized across senior, junior, and sub-junior categories in English and Tamil elocution, essay writing, poetry, and drawing competitions.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on July 15, 2026, under the leadership of Headmistress Ms. Prema. The event began with floral tributes to the portrait of Kamarajar. Prizes were presented by Rtn. Karthikeyan, Club Young Leaders Contact, Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers, along with Assistant Head Masters Mr. Murthi and Mr. Narayanasamy, and Rtn. Rathnavel, Chair – Club Administration, Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Prema highlighted Kamarajar's immense contribution to education and emphasized the significance of celebrating his birthday as Education Development Day. She stressed the importance of ensuring affordable, quality education for every student. Rtn. Karthikeyan praised Kamarajar's simplicity, vision, and leadership, encouraging students to develop their talents, strengthen their leadership qualities, and draw inspiration from the former Chief Minister's life.

As a tribute to Kamarajar, the prize-winning students presented their drawings, speeches, essays, and poems before the audience. The Rotary E-Club of Coimbatore Changemakers sponsored the competition prizes and also donated stationery items and guidebooks for Class X students, reaffirming its commitment to supporting education and student development. The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from teachers and students, making it a meaningful celebration of one of India's most respected education pioneers.
