Chennai Super Kings registered a commanding 8-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 48 of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Tuesday.

After restricting Delhi to 155/7 in 20 overs, Chennai comfortably chased down the target in just 17.3 overs, finishing at 159/2. The win was powered by an all-round performance, with Noor Ahmad shining with the ball and Sanju Samson delivering a match-winning knock with the bat.

Delhi Capitals Struggle After Early Wickets

Batting first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals lost wickets at regular intervals. Pathum Nissanka scored 19, while KL Rahul managed 12 runs.

Karun Nair added 13, Nitish Rana scored 15, and captain Axar Patel was dismissed for just 2 runs, leaving Delhi in trouble.

A crucial 65-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi helped stabilize the innings. Stubbs scored 38 with a boundary and two sixes, while Rizvi remained unbeaten on 40, smashing four sixes.

For Chennai, Noor Ahmad picked up two wickets, while Akheel Hussain, Mukesh Choudhary, Gurjapneet Singh, and Jamie Overton claimed one wicket each.

Sanju Samson Leads CSK Chase

Chasing 156, Chennai got off to an aggressive start through Sanju Samson. However, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed cheaply for 6 runs.

Urvil Patel contributed 17 with two sixes before getting out. After that, Karthik Sharma joined Samson at the crease, and the duo ensured there were no further hiccups.

Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on a sensational 87 off 52 balls, smashing 7 boundaries and 6 sixes. Karthik Sharma supported him brilliantly with an unbeaten 41 featuring 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Delhi bowlers Axar Patel and Lungi Ngidi managed one wicket each, but Chennai’s batting lineup proved too strong on the night.


With this impressive victory, Chennai Super Kings strengthened their playoff hopes, while Delhi Capitals suffered another setback in the tournament.
