Two Indian Climbers Die While Descending Mount Everest
Two Indian climbers died while descending Mount Everest after reaching the summit, taking the death toll on the mountain this season to five.
Two Indian climbers died while descending Mount Everest after successfully reaching the summit, officials confirmed on Friday.
The deceased climbers were identified as Arun Kumar Tiwari and Sandeep Are. According to Rishi Bhandari, General Secretary of Nepal’s Expedition Operators Association, both climbers became extremely exhausted while descending from the summit.
He stated that despite serious rescue efforts by their guides, the climbers could not be saved.
Officials said Sandeep Are reached the summit on Wednesday, while Arun Kumar Tiwari reportedly reached the peak on Thursday at around 5:30 PM.
Nivesh Karki, Director of Pioneer Adventures, the company that organised the expedition, said efforts are currently underway to bring the bodies of the deceased climbers back to Kathmandu.
With the latest tragedy, the death toll on Mount Everest during the current climbing season has risen to five.
Recently, three Nepali climbers also lost their lives on the mountain during separate incidents.
Notably, Sandeep Are was among the 274 climbers who successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, which stands at 8,848.86 metres, on Wednesday.
