Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Norway after completing his official visit to Sweden as part of his multi-nation Europe tour.

Prime Minister Modi began his European tour with an official visit to the Netherlands on Friday, May 15. During the visit, India and the Netherlands signed around 17 important agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Following the Netherlands visit, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Sweden on Sunday evening, May 17. During his stay in Sweden, he was honoured with one of the country’s highest civilian awards, the “Royal Order of Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross.”

Several important discussions were also held between India and Sweden on strengthening cooperation in various sectors. Reports stated that bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately 7.75 billion US dollars in 2025.

After concluding his Sweden visit, Prime Minister Modi departed for Norway on Monday morning. This marks Modi’s first visit to Norway in nearly 43 years. During the two-day trip, he is scheduled to participate in the India-Norway Summit and deliver a keynote address.

The summit will reportedly be attended by the Prime Ministers of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to meet Norway’s King Harald V and Queen Sonja during the visit.

The ongoing Europe tour, which includes visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, is part of India’s broader effort to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with European nations.
