Tamil Nadu Class 12 Board Exam Results Likely to Be Delayed Amid Government Transition

Schools and students across Tamil Nadu are anxiously awaiting the announcement of the Class 12 state board examination results, which are now expected to be delayed due to the ongoing political transition in the state.

The School Education Department had earlier announced May 8 (Friday) as the tentative deadline for releasing the Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) results while publishing the academic examination schedule last year.

However, officials within the department have indicated that the results may not be released as planned because the new government is yet to officially take charge and a new education minister has not yet assumed office.

According to sources, it has become a long-standing practice for the education minister to approve the release of board examination results, often through verbal consent. In some cases, ministers themselves publicly announce the results.

A senior school head stated that since no new minister has been appointed yet, the release date is likely to be postponed until the new administration is formally in place.

When questioned about the possible delay, Director of Government Examinations K. Sasikala neither confirmed nor denied the reports. School Education Secretary B. Chandramohan also avoided specifying an official release date.

He stated that the process of finalizing the Class 12 examination results is currently underway and assured that official information regarding the result date would be communicated at least one day in advance.

Meanwhile, an education department official speaking anonymously confirmed that the results would not be released on Friday and that authorities had decided to wait until the new education minister takes charge.

Educationists and school administrators have urged the government to announce the results at the earliest, pointing out that timely publication would help students and parents plan higher education admissions and future academic options without uncertainty.

S. Arumainathan, president of the Tamil Nadu Students Parents Welfare Association, said that in previous years, results were usually declared in early May, which allowed students to smoothly proceed with college admission processes. He added that administrative formalities should not create unnecessary hurdles for students and educational institutions.
