Construction of a new **₹1.41 crore temple chariot** for the historic **Perur Patteeswarar Temple** in Coimbatore is progressing at a steady pace. The new chariot is being built with intricate traditional craftsmanship and is expected to become a major attraction during the temple's annual festivals.
Artisans are carving detailed sculptures and decorative designs using **iluppai** and **teak wood** sourced from **Perambalur**, preserving the rich heritage of traditional South Indian temple architecture and wooden craftsmanship.
According to officials, the construction is expected to be completed by the end of the **Tamil month of Thai**. A **trial run** of the newly built chariot is planned during the **Tamil month of Maasi** to ensure its readiness before it is used in temple processions.
The new chariot is scheduled to make its grand debut during **next year's Panguni Uthiram festival**, one of the most important annual celebrations at the Perur Patteeswarar Temple. Devotees and visitors are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the magnificent new temple car as it joins the temple's centuries-old religious traditions.
