Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a thrilling 2-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 54th match of IPL 2026 on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 167 runs, RCB reached 167 for 8 in the final over after a tense contest, while Mumbai Indians had earlier posted 166 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball for Bengaluru, while Krunal Pandya played a match-winning innings with the bat to guide RCB to an important victory.

After winning the toss, RCB elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai’s innings got off to a shaky start as Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma were dismissed after scoring 22 runs each. Rohit’s innings included 2 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a duck, leaving Mumbai under pressure early in the innings.

Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma then rescued the innings with a brilliant 82-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Naman Dhir scored 47 runs with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes before getting dismissed.

Will Jacks contributed 10 runs, while Tilak Varma continued his impressive form with a fighting knock of 57 runs that included 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Raj Bawa added 16 runs towards the end, while Corbin Bosch and Deepak Chahar remained unbeaten at the close of the innings.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered an excellent spell and picked up 4 wickets. Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam, and Romario Shepherd claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a disastrous start as Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck. Devdutt Padikkal scored 12, while captain Rajat Patidar managed only 8 runs.

Jacob Bethell contributed 27 runs with 2 boundaries before getting out, leaving RCB under pressure during the chase.

Krunal Pandya then produced a sensational counterattack to revive Bengaluru’s innings. Jitesh Sharma scored 18 runs, while Tim David was dismissed without scoring.

Pandya played a brilliant knock of 73 runs off 46 balls, smashing 4 boundaries and 5 sixes to keep RCB alive in the chase.

After Pandya’s dismissal, the match went down to the final over. Rasikh Salam and Bhuvneshwar Kumar held their nerve under pressure and guided Bengaluru to a dramatic last-over victory.

Rasikh Salam remained unbeaten on 3 runs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar stayed not out on 7 runs to complete the thrilling chase.

For Mumbai Indians, Corbin Bosch picked up 4 wickets, while Deepak Chahar claimed 2 wickets. Ghazanfar and Raj Bawa took one wicket each.
