India began its Women's T20 World Cup preparations on a positive note by defeating West Indies by 26 runs in a warm-up match played on June 8.

After winning the toss, the West Indies elected to field first, sending India in to bat. The Indian batting unit produced a solid performance, posting 179/8 in 20 overs.

India's innings was anchored by Bharti Fulmali, who remained unbeaten on 56 runs from 40 balls, including six fours and a six. She played a crucial role in guiding India to a competitive total.

She received valuable support from Smriti Mandhana, who scored 39 runs, while Yastika Bhatia contributed 36 runs and Shafali Verma added 29 runs.

For the West Indies, Afy Fletcher was the standout bowler with four wickets, while Karishma Ramharack, Aaliyah Alleyne and Deandra Dottin claimed one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 180 runs, the West Indies could only manage 153/8 in their 20 overs, falling short by 26 runs.

Veteran all-rounder Deandra Dottin top-scored for the Caribbean side with 49 runs off 44 balls, including eight boundaries. Shemaine Campbelle added 25 runs, while Jannillea Glasgow and Shanisha Hector scored 19 runs each.

India's bowlers played a decisive role in securing the victory. Shreyanka Patil delivered an outstanding spell, picking up four wickets, while Radha Yadav chipped in with three wickets.

The comprehensive win will provide India with valuable confidence ahead of the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup, with both the batting and bowling departments showing encouraging form during the warm-up fixture.
