Suriya’s ‘Karuppu’ Faces Release Day Controversy as Morning Shows Get Cancelled
Suriya-starrer ‘Karuppu’ has landed in controversy on its release day after special morning shows were suddenly cancelled, leaving fans confused about the film’s official release.
Actor Suriya’s much-awaited film Karuppu has run into controversy on its release day after special morning shows scheduled for Thursday (May 14) were suddenly cancelled, leaving fans shocked and confused.
The film, directed by RJ Balaji, features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead and had generated massive anticipation among Tamil cinema audiences ahead of its release.
The Tamil Nadu government had already granted permission for special early morning shows during the first two days of release, leading to strong advance bookings across several theatres.
However, producer S.R. Prabhu issued a sudden announcement early Thursday morning stating that the 9 AM special shows had been cancelled due to “unavoidable reasons.”
The statement did not clarify whether the film’s overall release would proceed as planned, creating uncertainty among fans and theatre owners.
Although reports stated that online ticket bookings would be refunded, many moviegoers have raised questions regarding when the refund process would be completed.
Meanwhile, several reports circulating within the film industry suggest that financial issues, OTT rights-related complications, and disagreements with distributors may have contributed to the sudden delay and cancellation of the shows.
A social media post shared by film critic Bismi regarding the issue has also gone viral, further fueling speculation surrounding the film’s release troubles.
With confusion continuing around the situation, fans are now eagerly waiting to know whether Karuppu will release later today or get postponed to May 15.
