CM Joseph Vijay Assures Women’s Rights Scheme Amount Will Be Credited Soon

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has announced that the financial assistance for beneficiaries of the Women’s Rights Scheme for May 2026 will soon be credited directly into their bank accounts.

The Chief Minister also stated that the government requires additional time to restructure the welfare scheme.

Under the previous DMK government, schemes such as Pudhumai Penn, Tamil Puthalvan, and the Women’s Rights Scheme had been functioning with monthly direct bank transfers to beneficiaries.

Following the formation of the new government under Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, beneficiaries of the Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Puthalvan schemes did not receive the monthly assistance that is usually credited on the 7th of every month.

Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin had raised questions regarding the delay in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and urged the government to continue the welfare schemes introduced by the previous administration.

Responding to the concerns, Chief Minister Vijay assured that major public welfare schemes introduced by previous governments would continue without interruption.

Subsequently, all beneficiaries of the Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Puthalvan schemes received Rs. 1,000 in their bank accounts on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme, under which women receive Rs. 1,000 every month, have been waiting for the May installment, which is usually credited on the 15th of each month.

Amid growing expectations, Chief Minister Vijay issued an important clarification through an official government statement.

The Tamil Nadu government stated:

“The government requires appropriate time to restructure the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme under which women are being provided Rs. 1,000 every month as entitlement assistance. The May 2026 installment of the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme will soon be directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts as instructed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.”

With this announcement, beneficiaries are expecting the amount to be credited either as scheduled or with a slight delay.

During the election campaign, Vijay had also promised that women would receive Rs. 2,500 per month if TVK formed the government. However, the Chief Minister has now stated that additional time is required to implement the enhanced assistance scheme.
