Actor and motorsports enthusiast Ajith Kumar has welcomed the Tamil Nadu government's announcement to establish a new Motor Sports City in Chennai. The announcement was made by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly under Rule 110 as part of efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure in the state.
Welcoming the announcement, Ajith Kumar thanked the Tamil Nadu government for its initiatives related to sports and motorsports. In his statement, he said that the government's focus on developing the infrastructure required for motorsports and other sports is a welcome move.
Ajith Kumar also expressed the view that even a small step forward by the Tamil Nadu government could become a major step forward for Indian motorsports. He extended his best wishes to Chief Minister Vijay for his efforts.
According to the Chief Minister's announcement, the proposed Motor Sports City in Chennai is planned to include an international-standard racing track, modern infrastructure and training facilities.
The project is also expected to create infrastructure capable of hosting international-standard motorsport competitions, including Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4 events.
The initiative is aimed at identifying young motorsports talent and providing them with training and opportunities to participate in competitions. The project is also intended to promote sports tourism and encourage the development of industries connected with motorsports.
The proposed Motor Sports City is therefore expected to serve as an infrastructure hub for racing, training and motorsports-related activities while supporting the growth of sporting opportunities for young people in Tamil Nadu.
