Bangladesh created history by defeating Pakistan by 78 runs in the second Test at Sylhet to complete a dominant 2-0 Test series clean sweep.
Chasing a massive target of 437 runs on the final day, Pakistan were bowled out for 358 despite strong resistance from Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, and Salman Agha. Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam delivered a match-winning performance with a sensational six-wicket haul that helped seal the memorable victory.
Bangladesh built the platform for their historic win through impressive batting performances in both innings. Litton Das scored a brilliant century in the first innings, while veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim played a magnificent knock of 137 runs in the second innings to push Bangladesh into a commanding position.
During the match, Mushfiqur Rahim also achieved a major personal milestone by becoming the first Bangladesh batter to complete 16,000 international runs.
The victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan. It also became Bangladesh’s second consecutive Test series sweep over Pakistan after their 2-0 away series victory in 2024.
The historic triumph significantly improved Bangladesh’s standing in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 points table, while Pakistan faced criticism following another disappointing overseas Test series performance.
