Coimbatore Shops Reportedly Allowed to Stay Open Until 1 AM for Diwali
Coimbatore, October 31, 2026: Police have reportedly permitted shops in Coimbatore to remain open until 1 AM through November 7 to give the public additional time for Diwali shopping.
The arrangement is said to have been made in response to requests from residents and traders. It is expected to give shoppers more time to purchase festive essentials, including new clothes, sweets and gifts.
Monitoring has reportedly been intensified in major commercial areas such as Oppanakara Street, Town Hall, Ukkadam, Gandhipuram and Cross Cut Road. With crowds expected to increase during the festive period, attention is also being given to public safety and traffic management.
