EPFO Salary Limit Increased from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 Today (September 17) Onwards
From today (September 17), the EPFO mandatory membership salary ceiling has increased from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, potentially expanding PF coverage to over 51 lakh additional employees.

In a significant development for employees and workers, the monthly salary ceiling for mandatory membership under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has been increased from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 from today (September 17) onwards. This means that from today (September 17, 2026) onwards, employees earning up to ₹25,000 per month may come within the scope of EPFO and the Provident Fund social security system, subject to the applicable rules.
More than 51 lakh additional employees are expected to potentially come under EPFO coverage following the increase in the salary ceiling. Employees who were previously outside mandatory EPF membership because of the earlier ₹15,000 salary ceiling may now have an opportunity to benefit from PF savings and related social security provisions under the new threshold.
The revised salary ceiling is aimed at expanding long-term savings and social security coverage among workers. The increase from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 takes effect from today (September 17, 2026) onwards, marking a significant change in the salary threshold for mandatory EPFO membership.
