At least 16 people were killed in a tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh after a speeding mini truck carrying workers collided with an SUV on a national highway.

A tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh has claimed the lives of 16 people, after a speeding mini truck collided with an SUV on a national highway.

The accident occurred on Wednesday night around 8:30 PM in the Dhar district, when a mini truck carrying around 35 workers was traveling at high speed on the Indore–Ahmedabad National Highway.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the mini truck to crash into an oncoming SUV and overturn.

Initially, 12 people died on the spot, while nearly 20 others sustained serious injuries. Local residents and emergency responders rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police officials stated that overloading and overspeeding are believed to be the primary causes of the accident, based on preliminary investigation.

Later, four more victims succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, taking the total death toll to 16.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident, while rescue and medical teams continue to assist the injured.
