Delhi Sept. 5 Protest Withdrawn After Supreme Court Order – CJP Announces Decision
The Karappan Poochi Janata Party (CJP) has announced the withdrawal of its September 5 protest march in Delhi following the Supreme Court’s order to quash cases registered against students in connection with protests over alleged NEET irregularities.
CJP had organised a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in July, during which cases were reportedly registered against students and other protesters.
The party had earlier announced plans to hold a march from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters on September 5, citing the alleged failure to fully implement assurances given by the Central Government regarding the withdrawal of the cases.
Meanwhile, the Central Government approached the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of FIRs registered in connection with the student protests. Invoking Article 142 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court ordered the quashing of the cases and directed that no fresh FIRs be registered in connection with the protests held between July 20 and 25.
Following the Supreme Court’s order and the assurances given by the Central Government, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das informed the court that the party had decided to withdraw the September 5 march.
As a result, the CJP protest march scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 5 has now been cancelled.
