Heavy Police Deployment at Marina Beach Amid Reports of Pro-Vijay Youth Protest

Heavy police security has been deployed at Chennai’s Marina Beach following reports circulating on social media that youths may organize protests in support of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay.

Although TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by winning 108 seats, the party fell short of the majority mark of 118 seats required to form the government independently.

Social media platforms have since witnessed growing criticism over the delay in inviting TVK to form the government. Reports also claimed that youths were planning to gather in large numbers, similar to the massive Jallikattu protests witnessed in Tamil Nadu in previous years, to express support for Vijay.

Meanwhile, central intelligence agencies reportedly warned of possible law-and-order issues in the state and advised authorities to strengthen security arrangements at important public locations.

Following the alert, Chennai police intensified security measures across Marina Beach, including areas near the Labour Statue, Kannagi Statue, and Vivekananda House.

Authorities have also ordered increased security deployment at key locations across Tamil Nadu to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain public order.
