Heavy Rain Likely Across Parts of Tamil Nadu from June 26, Says Weather Department

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of Tamil Nadu beginning June 26, with thunderstorms and gusty winds expected in multiple districts over the coming days.
According to weather officials, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is currently prevailing over Lakshadweep and adjoining regions at an altitude of around 5.8 kilometers above sea level. This weather system is expected to influence rainfall activity across Tamil Nadu and neighboring regions.
On June 23, isolated places in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Moderate rain with strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph is expected in parts of the Western Ghats districts, northern Tamil Nadu, and the Union Territories of Puducherry and Karaikal.
For June 24 and 25, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds of 30 to 40 kmph is likely at a few places along the north coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal.
The weather department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several districts beginning June 26. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in the hilly regions of Coimbatore district, the Nilgiris, and Theni district.
On June 27, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations in the hill areas of Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, and Madurai districts. Thunderstorms and winds of up to 40 kmph may also accompany the rainfall.
The rainfall activity is expected to continue on June 28, with heavy showers forecast for the hill regions of Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts.
On June 29, isolated places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, and Virudhunagar districts are also expected to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms.
The weather department has stated that there is little possibility of significant changes in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal between June 23 and June 27.
For Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on June 23 and June 24. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in some parts of the city during the evening or night hours. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38°C to 39°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 28°C and 29°C.
With heavy rainfall forecast in several districts, residents in vulnerable and hilly regions have been advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions during periods of intense rain and thunderstorms.
