Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets in the 23rd match of the IPL. Chasing a target of 147 runs, RCB successfully reached 149 for 5 in just 15.1 overs after restricting Lucknow to 146 all out in 20 overs.

After winning the toss, RCB opted to bowl first and delivered an impressive performance with the ball. Rasikh Salam starred with 4 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3 wickets. Krunal Pandya claimed 2 wickets and Josh Hazlewood took one.

For Lucknow, Mitchell Marsh scored 40 runs with three boundaries and two sixes. Ayush Badoni contributed 38 runs, while Mukesh Choudhary added 39 runs with an aggressive innings. Captain Rishabh Pant had to retire hurt due to an elbow injury and later returned but was dismissed for just 1 run. Nicholas Pooran was dismissed early for 1 run.

In the chase, Phil Salt was dismissed for 7 runs, but Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal built a crucial 57-run partnership. Kohli played a key innings of 49 runs, including six boundaries and a six, before getting out.

Captain Rajat Patidar scored a quick 27 runs with three sixes, while Jitesh Sharma added 23 runs. In the final stages, Tim David and Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on 14 runs each to guide RCB to victory.

For Lucknow, Prince Yadav took 3 wickets, while Avesh Khan picked up 2 wickets, but their efforts were not enough to stop RCB from sealing the win.
