Snr Ashok Bhat installed as 4th President of SCI Coimbatore

Snr Ashok PH Bhat was installed as the 4th President of Senior Chamber International (SCI) Coimbatore Legion during a lovely ceremony on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 at Ganga Hall, Hotel Annapoorna, RS Puram. He will serve as the leader for the legion for the FY 2026-27. 

Senior Chamber International is an association of active members aged more than 40 who demonstrate responsible and active citizenship. The international organisation based on Kozhikode has more than 225 units (legions) all across the world. While the organisation enjoys great patronage in Kerala and Karnataka, SCI Coimbatore Legion is one among the prominent legions in Tamil Nadu.

Snr D Jayakandhan, President, SCI Coimbatore Legion, FY 2025-26 welcomed the gathering. Snr Adv BA Prabhushankar presented the annual report which showcased meaningful activities. Snr Jayakandhan installed Snr Ashok Bhat as the president in the presence of President of SCI, Snr M Vasudevan and Vice President of SCI, Snr M Narayanan.

Snr Ashok Bhat, in his acceptance speech promised that SCI Coimbatore Legion would engage meaningfully both with its own members and with our own society for mutual benefits. He emphasized on streamlining of meetings and sustainability in service. He sought the support of all members and hoped for a meaningful and memorable year. The office bearers of SCI Coimbatore Legion were subsequently installed by President, Snr Ashok Bhat. Six new members were added to the legion on this momentous occasion by Snr Narayanan.

Snr Sampath Kumar, General Legal Counsel, SCI, Snr Premnath, National Director and Snr Venugopal, National Director, SCI addressed the gathering. They felicitated Snr Jayakandhan and team of 2025-26 and conveyed best wishes to Snr Ashok Bhat and team of 2026-27. Leaders from SCI Palakkad Legion also greeted and felicitated the newly installed President and team of SCI Coimbatore Legion.

In his special address, Snr Narayanan,National Vice President appreciated Sne Ashok Bhat's vision which was very much in tune with SCI's theme of Impact Beyond Today. He requested SCI Coimbatore Legion to take the lead in initiating more legions in Tamilnadu.

Snr Vasudevan, President, Senior Chamber International and the Chief Guest mentioned that Coimbatore was always a special place for him because his wife was from Coimbatore. He traced the journey of SCI Coimbatore from its inception in 2019 and lauded the club for not giving up and ensuring that it solved all its teething troubles. He applauded the past leaders namely  late Snr Sethu, Founding President and Snr Adv Prabhushankar, second President for their leadership that endured tough times for the legion. He appreciated Snr Jayakandhan for his innovative approaches and calm demeanour that marked a wonderful year for SCI Coimbatore Legion. He said he was very happy to witness the ideas and energy of the new team under Snr Ashok Bhat and wished them the very best. He asked the members of the legion to come together and develop activities that are best suited to them. He requested the team to consider installing rain water harvesting in government schools which would impact our society beyond today. He said he looked forward to hear the success story of Snr Ashok Bhat and his team in the months to come.
