Free Aadhaar Update Facility Extended Until June 14, 2027

The deadline for updating Aadhaar details free of cost has been extended until June 14, 2027, providing relief to millions of Aadhaar card holders across India.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had introduced regulations in 2016 to prevent fraud and streamline the Aadhaar registration and verification process.

Under these rules, Aadhaar card holders are advised to update their personal information once every 10 years. This includes updates related to name correction, father’s or husband’s name, guardian details, address, mobile number, date of birth, and other important information.

Authorities have stated that biometric updates are especially important for children, as fingerprints, iris scans, and other biometric details change as they grow older.

For updating details such as name, date of birth, gender, address, mobile number, email address, and biometric information, individuals are required to visit Aadhaar enrollment or update centers.

However, address updates can also be completed online through the official UIDAI portal: UIDAI MyAadhaar Portal by uploading the required supporting documents.

The free update facility, which was earlier available for a limited period, has now officially been extended until June 14, 2027. This allows users to update their Aadhaar information online without paying any fee.

Meanwhile, authorities have also announced that the long-running ‘mAadhaar’ mobile application will soon be discontinued. Users are being advised to download the new ‘Aadhaar’ app, which includes enhanced features such as QR code-based information sharing for improved convenience and security.
