In view of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Southern Railway has announced a special train service to facilitate passengers traveling from Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil for voting. With polling scheduled for April 23 and election campaigning concluding today, authorities have made arrangements to ensure smooth travel for voters heading to their hometowns.

The special express train (No. 06072) will depart from Chennai Egmore at 1:25 PM on April 22 and is scheduled to reach Nagercoil at 2:30 AM on April 23. The train will pass through major stations including Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, and Virudhunagar before reaching its destination.

Ticket booking for the special train has been opened from 2:15 PM on April 21, and passengers are advised to reserve their tickets in advance through IRCTC or at railway reservation counters. The initiative aims to reduce travel congestion and ensure convenient transportation during the election period.
