The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rainfall is likely to continue across several parts of Tamil Nadu until May 19.

According to the latest weather bulletin, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 14.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in the hilly regions of Coimbatore district, as well as in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Theni districts, and Karaikal region.

On May 15, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in the hilly regions of Coimbatore district, Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, and Dindigul districts.

For May 16, the weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in isolated places across Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts.

On May 17, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri districts.

Similarly, on May 18 and May 19, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Theni districts.

The department also stated that there is little chance of significant changes in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until May 18.

Maximum temperatures are expected to remain close to normal levels during this period.

For Chennai, the weather department said that the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy today and tomorrow.

Light to moderate rainfall may occur in a few areas of the city, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.
