MS Dhoni Returns to Ranchi Due to Injury, Set to Miss Crucial CSK Match Against Gujarat Titans
MS Dhoni has returned to his home in Ranchi due to a thumb injury and is likely to miss Chennai Super Kings’ crucial IPL 2026 match against Gujarat Titans.
Chennai Super Kings fans were left shocked after reports confirmed that former captain MS Dhoni has returned to his home in Ranchi due to an injury.
CSK are set to face Gujarat Titans in a crucial IPL 2026 league match in Ahmedabad at 7:30 PM. The match is extremely important for Chennai Super Kings, as a victory could keep their playoff hopes alive depending on the results of Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals.
However, it has now been confirmed that MS Dhoni will not feature in the important clash. Notably, Dhoni has not played a single match throughout the current IPL season.
CSK batting coach Michael Hussey confirmed Dhoni’s absence and provided an update regarding his condition.
“I can confirm that Dhoni is not with the team. If CSK qualifies for the next round, he will definitely join the squad as a backup player. He suffered a thumb injury and is currently recovering. However, he is not yet ready for today’s match,” Hussey said.
He further added that if Chennai Super Kings manage to defeat Gujarat Titans and qualify for the playoffs, Dhoni is expected to rejoin the team.
Michael Hussey also expressed disappointment over CSK’s recent home defeat and admitted that qualification for the knockout stage has become difficult.
“It is disappointing to lose in front of our home fans. Qualifying for the knockout stage has become challenging. We are all learning from this experience and want to play the remaining match with a positive mindset,” he added.
Dhoni’s absence has created concern among CSK supporters, who were hoping to see the legendary wicketkeeper-batter return to action during the crucial final stages of the tournament.
