Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to formally stake claim for forming the government in the state.

During the meeting, TVK General Secretary N. Anand and party executives Arunraj and Aadhav Arjuna were also present alongside Vijay.

Following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, TVK emerged as the single largest party after winning 108 constituencies. In this context, Vijay submitted a formal letter to the Governor requesting permission to form the government.

Reports suggest that Vijay is likely to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu tomorrow (May 7). Senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government held discussions on Tuesday regarding arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony and security measures.

The oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has officially announced its support for TVK, paving the way for a new political alliance in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Congress election in-charge Girish Chodankar, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Selvaperunthagai, and other Congress leaders met Vijay at the TVK office in Panaiyur earlier today.

Congress leaders also handed over letters of support from five Congress MLAs to Vijay.

With the backing of Congress and after formally staking claim before Governor Arlekar, Vijay is expected to receive an official invitation to form the government and take oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday.
